This bug is not a duplicate of bug #66933.
Opening documents through the openoffice file->open dialog adds them to the
gnome recent documents list. The problem is unique to the case of opening a
document through the OOO recent document list.

Documents opened from openoffice 'recent documents' list are not added
I can confirm this bug.
The correct behaviour can be observed with gedit for example : opening a
document from its recent list pushes it to gnome recent documents list.
