Looking at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-backends it seems
that nowadays the orig.tar.gz file contains po/$LOCALE.po files, as
opposite to the sane-backends.$LOCALE.po in Karmic. The template is
imported, and contains the same amount of messages as in the tar.gz, so
this bug is fixed.
This bug is really old, so it would be very nice if someone could re-
confirm it.
