Found a workaround for this bug! A memory card in a PCMCIA-SD is also NOT recognized, but somehow allows the CF card to be seen. If you boot without an SD card in the adapter, then again the CF card is not recognized. (Ubuntu 7.10 on a Thinkpad) -- CompactFlash PCMCIA disk is not detected
