This is bad user interface design in the manufacturer-supplied PPD file.
It is not a bug we can fix at Ubuntu or OpenPrinting. Patching the
manufacturer-supplied PPDs would be a lot of work and a maintenance
nightmare when the manufacturers update their PPDs.

While there is no option to print duplex available in the normal
location, there is a Print Type option in the Printer Options
section of the printer properties that allows for 1-sided or 2-sided
that appears to work as advertised.
