same x-error-msg for me, but restarting does not help for me, as hald
seems allways to crash

Reading Tuukka Hastrups comment, I realized that this bug might be reproducable
(for me) this way:
- user1 logs in, starts X and it works
- user2 logs in, starts X and it works
- user1 logs in again and X doesn't work.
I don't want to try it right now (I need my box), but if this is needed,

Same symptoms started to appear here at the same time (yesterday), but
the hardware is different (Intel/Intel/laptop vs. ATI/nVidia/desktop)
and I run X the normal way (via gdm). I see the bug sometimes when I use
the "switch user" feature (no keyboard or mouse at gdm login screen).
