The executable bit was the problem for me: after I did "chmod 666 ", gnome Do worked OK and began opening the documents with openoffice. -- [karmic] gnome-do doesn’t open OOo-Documents https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434859 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bug

If I recall correctly, the executable bit gets set if you transfer that file to a FAT partition (like a flash drive). I forget why this happens. On Tue, Oct 13, 2009 at 4:36 PM, Alex Launi wrote: > Don't put executable permission on your documents. Your document has the > executable bit set, so

Don't put executable permission on your documents. Your document has the executable bit set, so it makes sense that we should let you try and run it. It could easily be a python or bash script. -- --Alex Launi -- [karmic] gnome-do doesn’t open OOo-Documents https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/43485

Learnt from previous comments the solution. But I still think this is a usability bug, as there is no visible way to bind OOo documents to the "open" command. Also I would imagine that it should not be too hard to set it for such filetypes as default. -- [karmic] gnome-do doesn’t open OOo-Documen

It will learn your common actions, so if you choose 'open' enough times that will become the default. ** Changed in: gnome-do (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- [karmic] gnome-do doesn’t open OOo-Documents https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434859 You received this bug notification because y

Ahh, that’s it. It shows 'run' as default. If i change it to 'open' it works. But where are the default settings stored? Sorry, i know this isn’t a support thread. -- [karmic] gnome-do doesn’t open OOo-Documents https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434859 You received this bug notification because yo

What action are you performing? It may be defaulting to something like 'Copy' instead of 'Open'. After you type the filename, hit tab and itll show the action. -- [karmic] gnome-do doesn’t open OOo-Documents https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/434859 You received this bug notification because you a

Thanks for your reply. 'xdg-open ~/foo.odt' works fine. I had the same problem in jaunty with the latest ppa version on a different machine. The universe package in jaunty isn’t affected though. So my guess would be that the problem is caused by gnome do or the files and folders plugin. But maybe

Works fine for me. My guess is your xdg-open (part of the xdg-utils package) is not working. Type 'xdg-open foo.odt' and see if it works. If it does not, then the problem is with your XDG configuration and not with GNOME Do. -- [karmic] gnome-do doesn’t open OOo-Documents https://bugs.launchpa
