I have re-done the debdiff patch without adding a patch system to the
deb, and will also cross-submit a patch to debian...

Hi,
As explained by irc, please do not introduce a patch system if Debian
does not have one, especially if the Debian maintainer has done changes
directly in the source code, as its' the case here.
Also, please submit your patch to Debian to see if they would adopt it.

Correction, builds both sqlite0 and sqlite3. But older sqliteodbc (0,
not 3) code makes assumption about converting char * to a va_list which
is really invalid for gcc 4.4. In any case, I have a patch and a fix I
am testing and will upload shortly.
