I have this bug too. I updated from Ubuntu 9.04 to Ubuntu 9.10 Beta. All
was OK on 9.04, but now with 9.10 I can't unzip a file on my local
server. Here are some infos:

I would have thought that is was part of the zlib packaging hence why I
submitted it here in the first place! I would have imagined that PHP5
would have merely made this a dependency of it?

I'm also getting the error message "Abort class-pclzip.php : Missing
zlib extensions" when I try to install new themes in Wordpress 2.8.4.
I'm on Ubuntu Karmic Beta 1.
I don't know if it's a problem with zlib1g or php5-zlib. I seem to be
missing zlib.so but don't know where to get it.
