Public bug reported:

There should be a way to invoke "print to file" without having to bother
with a dialog box at all. cups-pdf is much better in that respect: it

    - generates/determines an "appropriate" PDF file name
    - prints to $HOME/PDF

and Ctrl-P is as simple as it gets.
