I am also seeing the same problem with a clean 9.10 beta install. I
installed the latest nvidia drivers, 185.18.36. None of the other
applets I am using cause this issue.

I have an ATI Radeon 9600 working with opensource driver.
it is called radeon in xorg.
I know it is a strange issue, but i don't understand why only this
applet is involved.
