This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it
recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from

I can boot with acpi=noirq, but it disables acpi-events, so e.g. the
suspend button stops working, as well as the lid button (which means no
suspend when I close the laptop lid).

using acpi=noirq is a workaround for me to get the newer kernels booting
up - everything seems to work fine with this setting.

The problem still exists with linux-
image-2.6.31-12-generic_2.6.31-12.39_amd64.deb
Booting with acpi=off is a partial workaround: It stops at the console
login and X wont start.
Maybe an ACPI problem? Attaching an acpidump.txt
