my problem is with hda-intel driver on Lucid (work fine with Karmic or
Jaunty on the same machine); the chipset ALC882 is not loading and make
issues with gnome-panel and pulseaudio (only start into console, same
issue than Kenny above)

pulseaudio -k
gksudo 'alsa force-reload'
then I set it executable, and created a link on the desktop.

In the current Karmic Koala with updates, the sound works, except when going
into standby-mode.
The same is true for the latest Lucid Beta. Very similar bugs have also been
