Kubuntu Jaunty: Cannot Connect To Wireless Network with WEP shared key

I can not use wifi in any version of Kubuntu.

I have researched, and I have finally solved the problem. I have completely
removed from the terminal, the network-manager, then I installed the wicd
package_file.deb, and since then everything has worked correctly. Wicd works
perfectly and I can use the wifi connection.
