could be a similar issue, where the nvidia module is not getting loaded
at the right time...race condition. Then next time you run into this
problem, on the first successful reboot attach both your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old files to this bug

@Robbie: I've a Nvidia 9600GT sound card. The system always stop booting
at "fsck" part. Today I recorded a video, I'll upload somewhere as soon
as possible (it would be easier if I wasn't affected by another bug too,
that doesn't let me mount my USB keys/disks!). So that workaround is not
for me.
This might be related to bug 430694. Do you know if your system uses the Intel
i915 driver? The title says "sometimes", so I assume that you can boot. If so,
try applying the workaround in comment 2 of 430694:
