Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-notifier-kde
* ran update-notifier-kde -d as per instructions on Kubuntu web site. * (this worked fine on my notebook computer - at first it stopped due to files not found on the mirrors but later it just worked perfectly.) * after downloading all packages the process stops and reports: error - could not install the upgrades. The upgrade is now aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a). * in fact the software did not make any changes - at this point only the upgrade packages have been downloaded (about 2gb in this case.) * rebooting the computer works fine - no problems - but the system appears to be thinking that it's already upgraded to 9.10. It reports 840 packages to update. * There are two bugs here: (1) it didn't upgrade my system (not serious as it also did not appear to damage my system.) (2) it did not explain why it didn't upgrade my system! (very serious!) Please improve the error handling to include some sort of information as to what the problem might be so that I can try to do something about it. Thanks!
