Running Lucid on 2 different Latitude D600. The problem exists on both:
Links in Chromium and Firefox will change if you move the cursor. The
double click on some items will not work the first time. I cannot find
the file psmouse.conf to edit the fix suggested in post 24. Any help

Installed fresh Lucid 10.04 on a Dell D600, problem still exists. Left
mouse button sticks when pressing either of the left physical buttons,
have to resort to pressing the right mouse button to unstick. Clicking
by tapping the touchpad works fine.
Changing bios setting to PS/2 Mouse instead of
Lucid is out now, and the bug is still there, unchanged.

I cannot confirm the loss of middle click. It's still working for me by
clicking both buttons, but touchpad-scroll is definitely gone.

Same for me - single left click works correctly again but I have lost all
features: pad scrolling, cannot adjust pointer speed/acceleration etc. But
still an improvement overall :)

Timo's fix so far seems to have made that problem go away, but it
introduced the problem that I can no longer middle-click by clicking
both buttons. I've lost middle-click functionality (and someone else

A workaround of putting a line options psmouse proto=exps in
/etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf seems to work for me.
Therefore the bug is in the psmouse kernel driver detection code? Or that it's
correctly detected but the resulting protocol has a bug compared to what the
hw actually uses.

I think I fixed this problem on my D600. Im a linux n00b so I dont know
how it worked. I basically removed all the touchpad related packages I
had installed and reinstalled the mouse package. I noticed I had both
touchpad and mouse controls in System-Preferences and it seemed
redundant. Now I just

I have exactly the same problem on my DELL D600. I have been monitoring
this page to see if a solution would be created, so I could switch to
karmic.
I have experimented a bit with disabling my touchpad using the xinput
command, and through removing the appropriate xorg device driver module

I can concur this on Dell D600, both stick buttons and touchpad buttons
seem to miss ButtonPress and Button release event's on random starting
with 9.10 release. No such problems on 9.04 or any of the previous
releases.
This is also easy to replicate on 9.10 Desktop 32-bit installation Live-CD:

I'm experiencing the same problem on a Dell Latitude D600. For me the
behavior seems to depend on the speed of the button click: if I click
(or rather, release) the button fast enough, it works as expected, but
if doing it slowly I see the click and hold behavior. In my case I'm
seeing it both
