It happened to me on karmic after installing either desktop-switcher or
activating compiz. I don`t really know which one for sure.
This is how i solved the problem. Switch back to the netbook-remix
interface (if you wishe to stay with it). Deactivate every desktop
effects. (That's weird but this
yes. I used. I changed theme and I set to show icons on desktop, is the
only thing that he shows. I set too to present the log on window to
enter password but now is not showing it, except today, this appeared
for few seconds while was logging. Now, to use Internet I open any
