Hi,
I'm using the 0.10+bzr259-0ubuntu1 package released above, but Update
Manager still throws 407 Authentication Errors, even after clicking the
"Apply System-wide" button again, and a reboot.
Again, Synaptic is working fine but all the other apt programs don't
work.
Thanks,
Dave

Thank you Lars! It worked.
I just had to open /etc/apt/apt.conf and add the username and password to
the http_proxy variable also.
Thank you!

Giovanni. This workaround doesn't work if you need proxy authentication.
I just changed proxy configuration and set authentication on "Network
Proxy" clicking "Apply System Wide" and also changed inside Synaptics.
Update-manager still doesn't work even after rebooting. I'm able to use
Firefox and S
I had same problem.
Applying proxy settings "System Wide" force aptdeamon to use proxy settings so
update-manager can connect to Internet.
I think that users expect that aptdeamon uses proxy settings without
pushing "Apply System Wide" button, as older Ubuntu versions.
