Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10

acpi-support:
  Installed: 0.127
  Candidate: 0.127
  Version table:
 *** 0.127 0

        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Sometimes when resuming from suspend, the screen brightness is low, as
if the laptop were on battery, even though it isn't. The brightness has
to be increased manually. The power manager applet does not think the
computer is on battery. I have an HP dv9000 laptop, from Jan. 2007.

I'm not sure what hardware information is useful for diagnosing this, but I have
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G73 [GeForce Go 7600]
