The same issue is happening to me in gnome-mplayer 0.9.8, it happends
with all video outputs (xv,x11,gl...):
System: Ubuntu 9.10 64bits
Kernel: 2.6.31-15-generic
Using compiz 1:0.8.4-0ubuntu2

I'm seeing the same issue here; video flickers when the menu slides to
the bottom, otherwise everything is fine.
