Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm
I'm not sure whether gdm is the culprit, but it is really likely. If I enable auto login through the system->administration->login screen or by enabling it at installation time, I cannot lock my screen. Even though those features are related, there should not be any dependencies between them. It is required to be able to lock a screen for instance during a break, even though we auto-login. The bug is reproducible any time by just ticking-unticking the auto login feature in the appropriate menu. At the moment the workaround is to enable a 1 second delay before auto-login to allow other users to login in gdm. Doing so enables the lock screen option.
