Same here on 0.2.12.
(!) It is also tries to format a valid partition:
I insert sdi device:
sdi1 256MB FAT32
sdi2 1684MB FAT32
But usb-creator-gtk does not like sdi2 and says it needs to be formated.
Then it formats the whole drive
It seems that palimpsest also creates corrupted partitions.

usb-creator-kde also corrupts whole drive.
But it accepts already created valid partition.
