I no-longer have a 9.10 machine, but someone told me that it was
resolved with one of the 9.10 kernel update... I can't confirm this
tho

it is no longer an issue in 10.04 or 10.10 (Tested on Alpha3).

As per upstream bug, this issue is fixed by upgrading kernel. Please
update to Lucid/Maverick with newest WINE and repost detailed error
report..

I've discussed it with the CCP support, and although I was expecting
them to say "We don't support Linux", they were very helpful, and pretty
much admitted that it's an issue with the game that they know about, but
since it's rare in Windows I imagine it's not a priority.
In 9.10 specifically it's

Yes, i grabbed these debs:
linux-image-2.6.32-020632rc4-generic_2.6.32-020632rc4_amd64.deb
linux-headers-2.6.32-020632rc4_2.6.32-020632rc4_all.deb
linux-headers-2.6.32-020632rc4-generic_2.6.32-020632rc4_amd64.deb
And installed with "dpkg -i linux*". Rebooted into single user and
installed the Nvid
Did you manually download the kernel from this location and install with
the headers etc?... I tried searching for a kernel PPA to add to the
software sources, and only found this one, (https://launchpad.net
/~kernel-ppa/+archive/ppa) which does not have karmic kernels...

I tried the Karmic Wine1.2 packages just to be thorough and had the same
issue.
Thanks for the quote James. I had already tried /LUA:OFF which didn't
help. And i also had major audio issues using kernel 2.6.28-15 which
meant this was not even a good temporary solution.
