Public bug reported: Binary package hint: upstart
My Compaq Evo N1000C laptop will not boot using the 2.6.31-12 kernel. However it does boot using Jaunty's 2.6.28-15 kernel. This laptop has been upgrade to every Ubuntu release since at l;east Dapper without any boot issues. I've had this problem after upgrading to Karmic two or three weeks ago. I've tried booting with 2.6.31 every day after installing the latest updates, but it continues to fail with 2.6.31 (and it always boots with 2.6.28). It always hangs after /scripts/init-bottom and /scripts/AppArmor finish. Sometimes I see a few fsck messages (like on the attached photo), but this is not always the case. Please let me know what I can do to help troubleshooting this problem.
