This bug is fixed in kile 1.9, uploaded in Edgy. If you want a package
for Dapper, a backport request must be done.

I am extensively using kile these days in ubuntu dapper and the same
happens continously to me. A very annoying bug.
I am able to save my work and don't loose data by typing dcopquit kile
in a terminal. A crash message appears, but at least the work is saved.

I have experienced the same with Kubuntu Dapper and the KDE 3.5.3
packages from kubuntu.org. It has caused and can cause data loss and
should be considered a serious bug.
