Binary package hint: software-center

I installed Karmic UNR on my Lenovo x61s. The first time I attempted to
install my additional packages, software-centre broke.

it won't upgrade, uninstall, reinstall. It is just ocnstantly broken.

Using 'fix broken packages' in Synaptic doesn't help, nor does " sudo
dpkg ---configure -a 2 or anything else I have been advised to try.

Considering resintalling 'Karmic Proper' as opposed to UNR version from
scratch...
