I've just realised that the keyboard is not recognised before X boots
up.
Pressing enter during the init scripts normally makes blank lines appear
in the output, however when the keyboard is not recognised this doesn't
happen and caps lock doesn't light up.

Hi, I also have this problem with a ps2 keyboard on a desktop system.
The keyboard is sometimes (maybe 30-50% of the time) not recognised
during boot up. It seems to help if I press enter during the init
scripts, this may just be my imagination though.
