Debian package intention is half a year old. Since QR code is getting used more and more, please consider having it packaged by Ubuntu packagers. Benefit is that users can create QR codes and other bar codes easily via command line and the lib will provide a framework welcoming developers to develo

Someone over at debian just filed an "Intent To Package" (ITP) for zxing: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=575967 Once it is packaged at debian, it'll likely make its way over to ubuntu. Not quite sure how long ITPs typically take, but at least that's movement. ** Bug watch added
