Henry, you can just modify the bug and change the package from network-
manager to modem-manager instead of opening a new bug.
I will double check with Alexander, but I'm pretty sure this is a new
card.

re: regression, Alexander got the 5540 card working for Jaunty and
backported that network manager/modem manager pair to the Hardy image
for Tiger. In Karmic, we appear to have lost the ability to run the
5540 card. I'll open a specific bug for modem manager.

For sure this is working well with 5530 on the latest release available
20091117 -- although I don't have any 5540 modem hardware to debug where
the problem is.

Comment #4 seems to indicate this is working fine with a 5530 card, but
not with a 5540 card which is a new part, so I don't see how this is a
