changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed
With two mail accounts configured - one gmail and one IMAP - only the
gmail causes this problem. Should this not therefore be a simple fix?

Ugly workaround:
In a terminal, type:
gconftool --set /apps/mail-notification/popups/actions --type list
--list-type string []
This will remove any action button that generates a passive dialog.

I beg to differ. I have seen this behaviour before, but it has not been
visible for a great deal of time, since notify-osd have been crashing
whenever that dialog was to pop up. Since the latest bug fix in notify-
osd this behaviour is visible again.
