Not a problem here with rhythmbox 3.4.3 and Ubuntu 20.04 (dev)
As 14 people say they were affected any issue must have been fixed

changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem

I can confirm that this is an issue for me as well in Lucid. I had to
manually enter the password using gconf-editor and then it worked.

Same problem with lucid release. I finally used gconf-editor to modify
the "audioscrobbler" entry within apps/rhythmbox to change the password
there. After I did that (and restarted Rhythmbox) the problem was
solved.
What's with the password entry in the RB preferences box?

@Kamus: I had previously solved the problem by disabling and re-enabling
the plugin, but I've since switched to Banshee for listening to music.
So no, the problem hasn't affected me in Lucid.

I had same issue few days ago under Karmic, after edited manually with
gconf-editor work works fine here.

met the same problem on ubuntu 9.10 64bit, disabling, enabling the plugin and
restarting Rhymebox twice, and finally login in last.fm
It seem the last.fm plugin remembered a wrong password(typo), and kept
overwriting my new input and submitting the wrong password to last.fm server.

Something similar just happened to me. I first mistyped the password,
and then I couldn't get it to log in, until I disabled and re-enabled the
plugin, and restarted rhythmbox.

I have this issue as well, disabling, enabling and restarting rhythmbox
did not solve the issue.

I was messing around with it just now, and was able to get it to work by
disabling and re-enabling the Last.fm plugin and then restarting
Rhythmbox. Strange, but it's working now so I'm happy.
