Guys/gals, please be careful when pasting/attaching your apport info
here. This bug is extremely specific to one HDA codec, and despite many
codecs sharing the same problematic symptom, we need to track the
individual hardware separately. Please file a separate bug if your

It seems this bug is affecting me as well, however only update upgrading
to Kubuntu Lucid. My internal mic worked perfectly fine in Karmic,
however since the upgrade all I get is static (recording through
Audacity, and conversation attempts through Skype). Tried the backports

I was facing this problem and the problem was being fixed by simply
installing linux-backports-modules-alsa-2.6.31-20-generic Package from
Synaptic Package Manager .. Presently my Kernel version on my system is
Linux 2.6.31-20-generic ... Before instaling linux-backports-modules-

I set up the package and tried everything with alsamixer.
Maybe some settings are wrong in my alsamixer (now everything is at 100%)

existed.

Yes, the linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic package did solve the no
internal mic issue, but it is still way too quiet. Screaming into the
Mic gives less that 50% sound meter read back.

I can confirm the linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic package solved
this problem on an HP Mini 110. For what it's worth, I believe the
problem affected both the internal and external mic. This also resolves
question #84715 that I asked some time back.
