Oh. This was not a driver problem but a monitor problem, it reports
frequencies that it doesn't support. It is still a problem when i want
resolutions lower then the maximum res.

A bit more info:
xset -q
DPMS is Enabled
xset -dpms xset -q
DPMS is Disabled
boswars -F
After exactly one minute the screen is black and i press 'x' to exit.
Everything returns to normal.
xset -q
DPMS is Enabled
If i exit the game before the screen is black, DPMS is still Enabled, so
