BTW, I am using ubuntu 9.10 on a MacBookPro3,1, which means I am using
amd64, which means I can not install adobe flash plugin from adobe
website nor Ubuntu partner sources (not available)...

The bug affects me not only with youtube but also with dailymotion, etc.
The bug seems to be there not on youtube or dailymotion websites but on
website embedding there movies.
I was not able to fix it with any of the fix proposed here
(reinstallation of firefox, adobe website installation, etc.)

Just for info, I can play the video by hitting the space bar. So it's
related to mouse events.

I experienced that same problem and got it working with using the flash
installer from adobe website.

I reinstalled firefox and flash but taht didn't make it. It's not on all

being fixed with a reinstall. For future reference you can manage the
status of your own bugs by clicking on the current status in the yellow

thanks for the reply to my bug problem. In the meantime I uninstalled then
reinstalled firefox, which seemed to solve to flash problem for both firefox
& opera. Now I can play you tube clips with both browsers.
