Public bug reported: Binary package hint: read-edid
1) lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.04 Release: 9.04 2) apt-cache policy read-edid read-edid: Installed: 1.4.1-2.1ubuntu1 Candidate: 1.4.1-2.1ubuntu1 Version table: *** 1.4.1-2.1ubuntu1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/universe Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 3) i expected to be able to read the edid information from my monitor :-) 4) with version 1.4.1-2.1 i had a segmentation fault. I tracked this down into a call to lrmi_vm86. Then i tried to get the latest source package available and got "Source Package: read-edid (2.0.0-2) [universe]" for karmic. After installing libx86-dev i configured the sources and made the executables. This time i could get a little bit further. This was due to switching to libx86. However i still am not able to get the edid information. I get the following output: /get-edid: get-edid version 2.0.0 Performing real mode VBE call Interrupt 0x10 ax=0x4f00 bx=0x0 cx=0x0 Function supported Call successful VBE version 300 VBE string at 0x2110 "NVIDIA" VBE/DDC service about to be called Report DDC capabilities Performing real mode VBE call Interrupt 0x10 ax=0x4f15 bx=0x0 cx=0x0 Function supported Call successful Monitor and video card combination does not support DDC1 transfers Monitor and video card combination supports DDC2 transfers 0 seconds per 128 byte EDID block transfer Screen is not blanked during DDC transfer Reading next EDID block VBE/DDC service about to be called Read EDID Performing real mode VBE call Interrupt 0x10 ax=0x4f15 bx=0x1 cx=0x0 Function supported Call failed The EDID data should not be trusted as the VBE call failed <<here was some binary data>> information about my system: graphics card: lspci|grep VGA 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8500 GT (rev a1) monitor: Apple Cinema Display 23 inch ** Affects: read-edid (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- unable to read edid information https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/460471 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
