It's a config option to allow things like debugging - but if you set it
to debug, you can expect "strange" behaviour caused by the very fact
you're debugging udev.
In this case, it's all to do with the way that file descriptors are
chained up - it's correct for debugging, but causes other issues

If /etc/udev/udev.conf should indeed -never- have udev_log set to other
than "err", then why is it even a config option and why do the comments
in the file say it can be set to any of err, info, or debug? In other

a boundary issue (you must be a techie person to do that, and it will

You shouldn't change udev like this, instead use "udevadm control --log-
priority=..." to adjust the log priority of a running udev
