Just in case anyone else finds their way here before finding a solution.
There is useful information in the plugin's bug tracker:

In particular, I found that the recommendation to disable the option
called Show Facebook
ok, it keeps happening, even while being online in firefox. so the bug
still occurs...

since yesterday evenings sys-update it seems to work again. don't know which
package resolved that
keep you updated and will change the status, if the bug won't appear again in
the next days.
