Sound is not working, even after it did for a while seemingly because of
elevated user privilege for audio devices. (someone came up with the
recommendation.

I really do not understand why it regressed again.

Symptoms: Hardware section in standard Sound Preferences is not
populated again. As one can see from the attachments, cat
/proc/asound/modules delivers 0 snd_hda_intel and lsmod | grep intel
delivers snd_hda_intel, snd_hda_codec, snd, which looks good to me.
pulseaudio is 1:0.9.19-0ubuntu4. What does the colon has to do there?

This bug is very annoying.
