Switching to confirmed. Is this an issue only with text, or also with
other types of objects? If it's only text, then it might be a
libfreetype bug instead of an Evince one...

This is definitely a regression from 2.26. It looks to me like the
scaling algorithm changed from 2.26 to 2.28. The new one is much worse
(nearest neighbor?). I've been developing PDF reports for a client and
they all use Window + Acrobat where the images look fine. But on my
