possible to avoid using an external script to launch conky. It will be
enough to use the command line option -p/--pause.

I`m using delay currenty, no other way to run conky on startup. "Sleep
5" is enough to initiate without crash.

apt-cache policy conky-all
conky -v
I assume you launch conky with a script and some amount of delay already?
If so, does increasing the delay solve your problem?
