reboot/shutdown problem still an issue? Also, are you still
experiencing sound issues?

I tried solution #19, it worked for the "restart" option, but not for the
"shutdown"
back to the current problem, still unsolved (even after insaling
linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic_2.6.31.14.27_i386.deb package)
I'm itching to wipe out Wubi 9.04updated and do a fresh install of
Wubi9

haven't tried that, but the sound worked just fine on 9.04 and it still woks
on (s)windows
(yes I'm using wubi)

I downloaded and installed the package
(linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic_2.6.31.14.27_i386.deb), however
during the reboot the computer froze showing the following message:

Azevedo, please try installing the 'linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-
generic' package and rebooting. Note, some devices in the audio mixer
may become muted in this process, so be sure to check them after
rebooting.
