It does not seem to be the same as 127514, because the bugs deal with
two different mouse drivers.
However, they do have some similarity in that both are symptoms of X not
properly autodetecting things. Still, I believe they are separate bugs.

This is the same problem as described in bug #127514.
In bug #127514 I have described the problem in detail, therefore closing this
bug as a duplicate of bug #127514. Please add further comments in that bug

I am using a IM2.0 Explorer on Feisty 64 bit and I have the same problem.
It would be nice if the extra 2 buttons were recognized during installation and
we could use them in different applications (especially the upcoming Beryl).

same here Edgy amd64, I have IntelliMouse with 2 side buttons, and xev
reports them as 8,9 even mouse have only 7 buttons, it would be nice if
it can bee recognized during installation, also mouse is connected to
PS2 port
