I've got this problem, too, on a Thinkpad T60. Poking any of the three volume buttons (they're in the upper-left of the keyboard) neither changes the volume, nor brings up the on-screen display. Changing the volume via the little speaker icon on the tray, though, works fine. -- Regression:
