Auto-completion of abbreviations are unticked by default, so I'm closing
this as a non-bug.

Value "Threshold" is set to 3. However, the tooltips already appear
after typing 1 dot.
I just found the solution: On this very configuration page, untick the
"example"-entry in the "Abbreviation" list.
Please mark as "solved" and change the default configuration such that
example is unticked.

Try to check under Configuration > Kile > Complete. What do you have as
threshold when you experience this?
