You should really consider lowering the opening/close animations to 200 and minimize to 300. The animations are so quick at this point they seem to stutter. I have a decent graphics card and have been running Compiz some time. These settings are quite nice. This gives a nice transitioning

Well yes if a user has an older computer the animations will stutter, but should this user have the effects enabled in the first place? I just think that, if a user is going to go ahead and enable desktop effects, the effects might as well be decent looking (including a time step of 1) rather than

I personally just found out that the animation time step under Effect Settings under my default Ubuntu installation was set to 10. I moved it down to 1, and that makes the animations appear much smoother. I think all default installations should have this setting. -- Fine-tune window animations
