The problem is actually a timeout with a call to a large active directory environment. I see this "sometimes" on a RHEL5 implementation, but other times the issue isn't there. Same thing with wbinfo failing "sometimes" -- cannot find name for group ID X https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/47886
