This is not a duplicate of bug 479839. In that bug report, the user
reports some usability of the touchpad. This user does not report any
usability. In addition, the make/models of the computer are completely
different.

Txa, could you run the following commands in the terminal:
cat /proc/version_signature > ~/version_signature
sudo lspci -vvnn > ~/lspci_vvnn
dmesg > ~/dmesg
And then upload the files: "version_signature", "lspci_vvnn", and
"dmesg" which will be in your home directory.

Hi. Thanks you for the fast respond. And sorry if i didn't report the bug in
the right place. I'm newbie.
The touchpad does not work at all. The pointer remains static in the middle
of the screen. However it works with an external usb-mouse. My laptop model
is SAMSUNG NP-R509-XA02ES
thanks a lot
Txa, when you say that the touchpad stopped working, does the mouse
pointer still move as you use it? I know that the default setting for
Ubuntu 9.10 is to disable the "tap to click" features and the two-finger
scroll features.
It would also help to include the make/model of your computer.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue, in the default Ubuntu 9.10 install,
that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't
be addressed as part of this project.
- This is a bug and not a papercut.
