Solution: I too found this problem in my 9.10 install, so I did a little bit of digging. It seems that someone has renamed "menu.lst" with "grub.cfg". At least they kept grub.cfg in the same directory (/boot/grub). So, if you're following these instructions: https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/switchi
