Thanks for your report. This is also bug 47859, and can be worked around
by not choosing to install NTP support while running the installer. It
can be installed after rebooting into the newly-installed system by
right-clicking on the date/time applet an
AndrewW, please file a separate bug.

I have tried installing Kubuntu twice and at the Welcome screen where
you are asked to select a country it crashes with the following report:

Can this be marked as a duplicate of 47859? It's likely that the second
time you tried you experienced a crash due to a different issue...
