Public bug reported: Binary package hint: language-selector
First user created (administrator) sets a language (other than english) using gnome-language-selector. Since the first user is administrator he can change the default for other users, but doesn't, it is still English. The user logs out and logs in. The language has changed (menus etc), as expected. A second user is created, as "desktop user". User logs in. Sets a language. Logs out and in. No apparent change. The menus are still in English. An examination shows that the first user has a .dmrc containing: [Desktop] Language=sv_SE.UTF-8 Layout=se Second user has a .dmrc containing: Language=zh_CN.UTF-8 Editing the second users .dmrc adding the lines "[Desktop]" and "Layout=se" by hand, logging out and in results in Chinese language menus, i.e. the result expected in the first place by running gnome- language-selector. A third user is created, as "administrator". Does the same actions as second user. Has the same problem, and the same solution.
